Hospitality jobs are set to be created in Barry, Wales, where Premier Inn has started construction on what it claims will be one of the country's most sustainable hotel developments.
Cardiff-based contractor Carter Lauren, which earned the contract from Premier Inn parent company Whitbread, is planning to create the 80-bed hotel and Brewers Fayre restaurant by autumn.
The £7.5 million project will make full use of energy-saving technologies and locally sourced building materials, reports the Barry and District News.
"As a business we are committed to cutting our carbon emissions and our investment in Barry will create one of Wales' greenest hotels," said Richard Pearson, acquisition manager for Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants.
He added that the project could be a "fantastic legacy" for Barry, boosting the tourist trade and generating around 68 jobs for the area.
Premier Inn was recently named the world's leading budget hotel brand at the 2011 World Travel Awards, beating off competition from the likes of Best Western, Travelodge and Holiday Inn Express.
