Chef recruitment in London is set to receive a boost with the planned opening of a new vegetarian restaurant in Holborn.

The establishment will be the second eatery in the Vanilla Black chain and is due to open its doors for the first time this winter.

It is believed the as-yet-unnamed restaurant will provide seating for 25 people and will open for breakfast, lunch and early dinner, and is also set to include a takeaway section.

The original Vanilla Black restaurant launched in York in 2004 and relocated to Tooks Court in the capital four years later, where it quickly established a reputation as one of London's best vegetarian eateries.

Owners Andrew Dargue and Donna Conroy aimed to create a menu that makes vegetarian fare appealing to people of all tastes.

Mr Dargue commented: "By serving traditional fare as well as encouraging customers to experiment at home with foraged foods, we want to remind people how great British ingredients and dishes can be."
