Spaghetti House could be set to safeguard restaurant jobs in London after acquiring two sites from Paramount Restaurants, which has fallen into administration.

The Bertorelli Restaurant on Argyle Street and Brasserie Gerard on Kensington High Street have been taken over by the family-owned group, which already operates ten establishments in the capital.

Founders Lorenzo Fraquelli and Simone Lavarini opened the first Spaghetti House branch in Goodge Street back in 1955 before expanding into affluent areas of the city such as Bloomsbury and Knightsbridge.

Peppino Esposito, operations director for the restaurant group, said now is a "very exciting time" for the company, which is planning a programme of refurbishments throughout 2012.

"These new acquisitions will increase our presence and profile in key landmark locations and will be offering that true, authentic Italian cooking which sets us apart," he added.

More than 250 staff in restaurant jobs are currently employed across the various Spaghetti House properties.
