Food service jobs are likely to be available in the newly-designed King's Cross station concourse when it opens in 2013, after Network Rail announced the prospective tenants of the area's hospitality section.

The 7,000 sq m redevelopment has attracted a number of high-profile names, including Giraffe, Wasabi, Leon and Benito's Hat.

Cafes like Starbucks and Caffe Nero will also launch outlets in the site as it undergoes a major change in design, attempting to reduce congestion throughout the busy London station.

Ian Fry, King's Cross programme director, said the company has been working hard over the last five years to integrate old and new architecture into an aesthetically pleasing development.

"Research tells us that passengers consistently rate high-quality facilities alongside convenient retail and catering as important station priorities," added Mr Fry.

Over £400 million will be spent on the scheme, which is being funded by the Department for Transport and Network Rail. The new concourse will be three times as large as the one previously available to passengers.
