New pub jobs to be created by Amber Taverns?

Amber Taverns could create many more pub jobs across the UK as it has announced plans for a mass expansion.

The north-west pub operator has secured a further £6.25 million from Lloyds TSB and hopes to acquire 15 pubs a year between now and 2014.

It already owns 50 pubs in the north of England, employing hundreds of people in bar jobs, but in four years' time it hopes it will have around 110 sites.

Ashley Suter, relationship director in Merseyside for Lloyds TSB's corporate markets division, expressed his confidence in Amber Taverns to the Publican.

"Only businesses with good balance sheets and strong management teams warrant pre-approved acquisition facilities and we feel Amber Taverns fits the bill," he added.

Last month, Mitchells & Butlers announced that it is selling 333 of its pubs to Stonegate Pub Company Limited, which is controlled by TDR Capital LLP, for around £373 million.
