Staff in chef jobs at Greene King pubs are being given a helping hand in the kitchen by Marco Pierre White in a new educational initiative.
The celebrity chef and Hell's Kitchen star has taken time out to support the scheme by the national pub chain, which employs almost 700 young apprentices across the country.
White, himself a former apprentice, attended the launch of the Discovery Apprenticeship programme and held a cooking masterclass for the trainees in attendance.
Greene King has introduced the initiative to train and develop staff across its network of 2,400 pubs, including the Old English Inn and Hungry Horse brands.
"We hope our current apprentices will become our house managers, regional managers, development chefs and even directors of the future," said Jonathan Webster, managing director of the firm's destination pubs and restaurants division.
The news comes just a matter of days after WalesOnline revealed White could be set to open a new MPW Steakhouse, Bar & Grill restaurant on Cardiff's Queen Street.
