Four professionals in pub management jobs have seen their establishments nominated for the Campaign for Real Ale's (Camra's) pub of the year award.

The Engineers Arms in Henlow, Bedfordshire, the End Inn in Ruabon, Wrexham, The Font in Falmouth, Cornwall and the Swan With Two Necks in Pendleton, Lancashire are all in the running for the prestigious accolade.

London's The Harp, located in Covent Garden, is the current holder of the title after impressing judges with its value for money, atmosphere, decor, clientele mix and the quality of its beer.

At the time, owner of The Harp Bridget Walsh said the victory was a "complete shock" and thanked her locals, Camra members and her bar staff for playing their part in landing the award.

Julian Hough, Camra pubs director, commented: "It's great to see four finalists which haven't featured at this stage of the competition over the past decade, as this shows just how many exemplary community pubs remain across Britain."
