Global sandwich chain Subway is set to generate 6,000 food service jobs in Britain over the next three years as part of its plans for continued expansion.
The franchise plans to open 600 new branches across the UK and Ireland by 2015, the Press Association reports.
It currently has over 2,000 outlets and has increased the number of UK eateries by 500 per cent over the last seven years.
President and co-founder Fred DeLuca expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to increase the chain's share in the British fast food market.
Mr DeLuca said the company allows entrepreneurs "to operate their own small business and provide great food, exceptional customer service and job opportunities in their communities".
Subway recently joined 41 other businesses in adding calorie labelling to its meals. With this in mind, the company recently reduced the salt content across its range by 33 per cent and offers a variety of low-fat sandwich options.
