JD Wetherspoon is opening a new establishment in Maltby, generating up to 50 pub jobs in the area and refurbishing the derelict Queen's Hotel.

The new pub and restaurant is likely to open in March 2012 after a £1 million investment in the redevelopment, reports the Gainsborough Standard.

Plans submitted to the council suggest the establishment will seat roughly 190 people and include the creation of an outside terrace and car park.

Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron said: "It is pleasing to hear that a new restaurant is to open in Maltby, especially as it will bring a number of employment opportunities."

JD Wetherspoon is glad to have the opportunity to refurbish such an iconic building, according to chief executive John Hutson.

He added that the pub is likely to appeal to a broad cross-section of people.

The company has garnered a reputation for refurbishing previously disused or derelict buildings, spending an average of £1.4 million on each development.
