A new hotel or restaurant could become a feature of an up-and-coming area in Blackburn, according to one website, which reported that a utilities company is selling off two potential sites.

ThisIsLancashire.com stated that water giant United Utilities is planning to sell the sites close to its Guide Reservoir and it believes one could be ideal for a restaurant or hotel.

Tom Davis, a senior director at CBRE, which is marketing the sites for United Utilities, said that one of them could be perfect for development, which could interest people looking for hotel jobs or restaurant work.

"On one of the sites we would like to see a hotel or restaurant there and we think that is a good option because operators are now looking at expanding again after the recession. The second site has the potential to be offices or light industrial buildings," he stated.

InterContinental Hotels Group recently announced that it intends to create 3,500 hotel jobs in UK.
