Two pubs in Greater Manchester could be offering sous chef jobs and other kitchen positions after a company announced plans to redevelop them into restaurants, creating 35 jobs in each venue.

New Moon Pub Company, which opened its first eatery last year, is considering two ventures in Cheshire as potential sites.

One is expected to be finished by Easter with the other nearing completion by the end of the year, reports the Manchester Evening News. The company comprises a duo of kitchen professionals, Paul Newman and David Mooney.

Mr Mooney said: "Pubs are suffering and we want to bring them back to life, as we both have the experience and knowledge to develop the right site into a successful venue."

He added that he and his partner intended to be involved in every aspect of the redevelopment.

Wolverhampton-based brewery Marston's recently announced its intention to focus on food in the coming year, with chief executive Ralph Findlay claiming dining had become a key part of the pub industry.
