Staff in restaurant jobs at the Riverhill eatery in Oxton will be taking orders from a new owner after Claire Lara, who won Masterchef Professional in 2010, took over the Wirral establishment.
Lara and her husband Mark purchased the eatery along with an adjoining 15-bed hotel, allowing them to move back to their home town with their newborn son.
The chef told the Liverpool Daily Post she is pleased to return to the first restaurant she worked in as a novice and explained she still felt a bond with the establishment.
"As soon as I won the show, I came back and cooked some dinner parties for the previous owners - when they contacted me and said it was for sale, I couldn't resist," she explained.
She added that the opportunity to come back to Wirral with her family was also a crucial factor in the decision.
The chef is still in the process of creating a new menu, which she claims will be a modern European selection.
In 2011, the MasterChef professional crown went to Australian chef Ash Mair.
