Restaurant chain Pesto could create sous chef jobs across the UK through plans to continue its expansion into the pub market, after an initial trial project in the Cabbage Hall pub, Cheshire, proved successful.
The Manchester-based company opened a restaurant at the Punch Taverns site in November 2011 and has been impressed with the results.
"We're absolutely delighted with the Cabbage Hall. This was a bit of an experiment for us but the feedback is excellent," said Neil Gatt, who operates Pesto with business partner Sarah Edwards.
He added that the number of diners who wish to stay in the restaurant for longer and try a wider selection of food increases in the pub-based establishment.
This has led to plans to open three more Pesto in the Pub restaurants, with a structure in place for major expansion if these initial projects do well.
The first Pesto opened in Manchester in 2006 and has been followed by another opening in the Trafford Centre as well as outlets in Liverpool and Glasgow.
