Pub jobs are to be created in Belfast as the Beannchor Group has won planning approval for the construction of a music centre with a bar.

The group, which was behind the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, is to convert a 19th century warehouse on Waring Street so that it includes a school of music, tuition rooms, a pub and a dining area, the BBC reports.

Beannchor's managing director Bill Wolsey told the news provider that he was "delighted" the plans had been improved.

"The aspirations of this cultural centre suit the wider aspirations of the Cathedral Quarter, which is the cultural quarter of Belfast," he added.

Back in July, the Belfast Telegraph reported that the Wagamama restaurant group is to open one of its famous noodle bars at Belfast's Victoria Square, creating up to 50 restaurant jobs.

The shopping centre is set to open in November and boasts 18 other restaurants and cafes.
