March opening for Great Missenden gastro pub

A new gastro pub is to open in the town of Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, this March.

The Nags Head is currently being run as a traditional pub but after being acquired by the owners of the renowned Bricklayers Arms in Hertfordshire, it is poised to become a hotspot for fans of classic dishes prepared using locally sourced ingredients.

Alvin Michaels, the owner of the pub, told The Bucks Herald: "We are extremely excited with this new addition in Buckinghamshire."

"We feel that there is a lack of quality eating houses within the area and this is something we want to change," he added.

The Bricklayers Arms, which was named Hertfordshire Pub of the Year by the AA Pub Guide 2008, will lose some of its staff to The Nags Head, with head chef Alan Bell heading up the kitchen team at the new venue.

However, with refurbishment of the property creating seven double bedrooms designed to offer bed and breakfast accommodation in addition to the traditional gastro pub offerings, more staff look set to be recruited over the coming months.
