Mobile ordering service 'liked by bar staff'

Pub and bar staff could be poised to benefit from new technology which allows customers to order their drinks using their mobile phones.

The MyQBuster service means that instead of queuing up at the bar, drinkers simply key an identification code into their mobile, select the drinks they want and have the cost of the round automatically deducted from their credit or debit card.

Bar staff then mix the order and either deliver it to the table or wait for it to be collected.

Natasha Wilson, lessee of one of the pubs which has adopted the system, the North Star in Finchley, told thepublican: "Our bar staff like it. It can be intimidating when there are 30 pairs of eyes watching you, all wanting to be served next."

"But the computer isn't biased and everyone gets served in the right order."

People are who are interested in becoming a pub manager but are not confident with technology do not need to worry, with Ms Wilson explaining that she found it "so easy to use".

"It takes about half an hour to put in the list of drinks you're selling and you're away."

Richard Price, one of the co-founders of MyQBuster said that there has already been interest in the service from other pubs.
