People currently seeking hospitality jobs must be prepared for hard work and commitment, according to one well-experienced pub manager.
Olive Wilson, the 81-year-old boss of Derbyshire watering hole the Oak, issued the advice as her own work was celebrated at the weekend.
Hundreds of drinkers descended on the pub for a beer festival in honour of Olive's 55 years behind the bar, The Publican reports.
"You have got to want to do this work and enjoy it," she told the publication.
"It's very hard work, but you have really got to stick at it and be committed," the veteran pub manager added.
Olive explained that she and her husband first took up the Oak's tenancy in April 1953 and bought it in the early nineties, with the widow now dedicating most of her time to bookwork behind the scenes.
In another hospitality success story this month, Welsh student Robert Povey beat three other finalists to win a Skills Competition Wales prize for his stellar restaurant work.
