The Publican Food and Drinks Awards 2008 are launched

The Publican Food and Drinks Awards 2008, designed to recognise and reward exceptional standards followed by licensed establishments in serving food and drink, have been launched.
Categories for these nationwide awards were selected by focus groups, including prizes for Front of House Team of the Year, Chef of the Year and Local Food Pub of the Year, with the spotlight on individuals' ability and contribution to the smooth running of a specific establishment.
"Great food and drink is the heart and soul of the British pub … in terms of product quality, innovation and customer service, the food and drink operation has to be seamless," said the publication's editors.
Professional specialism and standards organisations, including the British Institute of Innkeeping and the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, will be teaming up with journalists to carry out interviews and impromptu visits over the course of the judging process.
Closing date for entries will be August 1st 2008, with final judging taking place in early October.
