Bar Sport, a chain of sports-themed bars, has revealed plans to Caterer and Hotelkeeper that it plans to expand its reach to about 100 locations, creating new bar jobs across the country.

The bar operator is dedicated to televising live sport every day "in a stylish sporting environment" while serving quality food, providing an ideal environment for sports fans, with friendly customer service.

It currently runs sites in Cannock, which was the first bar opened in 1996, Walsall, Rugby and Loughborough.

Emphasising the specific needs of its customers, the chain's founder and managing director Scott Murray told the publication: "We are serious about sport. We are not glorified night-clubs".

The expansion of the franchise is expected to take around five years and will begin in smaller towns to ensure the chain is spread evenly across the UK.

Bar Sport plans to open its first new branches in Cheltenham and Northampton before the end of the year.
