Staff from Carlisle and Penrith area bars received recognition for their efforts when they won prizes as the Best Bar None in the district last week.
Blue Jay Way in Penrith and the Glasshouse in Carlisle won out of an initial 32 licensees which entered for the award, the Publican reports.
In winning the Best Bar None for the Carlisle area, bar staff and bar managers at the Glasshouse said they demonstrated the hard work necessary to efficiently operate a reputable bar.
Daryll Morrison, speaking for the Glasshouse, told the newspaper: "It's nice to be recognised for the all the hard work we put into running the place."
"I have learnt something from every bar I've worked in and that learning process has helped me get this award".
Developed nationally in 2007, Best Bar None was introduced by the Manchester City Centre Safe project to specifically focus on addressing the issue of safety for those on a night out and reducing alcohol-related crime by encouraging bar and pub managers to improve their standards of operation.
