JD Wetherspoon has confirmed it plans to take over a disused pub in Weymouth, meaning full and part-time jobs for the area, according to the Dorset Echo.

This will be the chain's second pub in the town, having opened The Swan in St Thomas Street a few years ago.

Eddy Gershon, spokesman for the company, hopes that the newly modernised institution will be open before the end of the year and expects around 30 to 35 full and part-time jobs to be created.

Mr Gershon told the newspaper: "I think the new pub will certainly be a welcome new addition to the town centre and its economy."

He added that the company would be injecting thousands of pounds into the project.

JD Wetherspoon launched its first institution in 1979 and currently operates nearly 700 pubs across the UK, rating customer satisfaction and staff training as "the cornerstone of the Wetherspoon experience."
