Seekers of jobs in the beer industry could be in luck with newly revealed plans to build a brewery in Market Drayton, Shropshire, according to a source.

The town could become a new centre for traditional ale, with the relaunch of the "once popular" Joules brand and trademark, reports the Shropshire Star.

Seven new brewery jobs are expected should the project be given the go-ahead, providing employees with the opportunity to take part in history.

As well as the brewery, pubs may subsequently be created by the brand with more jobs in the offing, renewing the presence of the Joules name across the local area, the publication reports.

Steve Nuttall, managing director of the company, told the newspaper: "The brand is one of the world's most famous marks and we are excited to now bring forward an application to build the flagship brewery in Market Drayton."

The Joules organisation, founded in 1740, was taken over by Bass Carrington in 1970, but according to the Campaign for Real Ale, Joules Bitter has been enjoyed since as far back as the 12th century, when monks started brewing the first varieties.
