Work has started on a pub in Colne, east Lancashire, with around 35 jobs set to be created by its reopening, it has been revealed.
Under national chain JD Wetherspoon, renovations on the public house are expected to be completed by November 17th this year, after planning approval was given more than a year ago, Pendle Today reports.
Organisers predict the development will boost the town's economy by £1.2 million.
Seekers of pub-orientated hospitality jobs can know they are taking part in a little piece of history, as the establishment will be renamed the Wallace Hartley, after the local hero who was a bandmaster and violinist and died aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912.
He reportedly directed his orchestra into playing upbeat tunes to boost morale upon the sinking ship, an achievement also recognised by a statue erected on Albert Road.
JD Wetherspoon currently operates 696 licensed institutions across the UK, with more openings expected.
