A Cumbria pub has been named as one of the top 200 in the country in a new poll.
The latest Guardian/Observer listings list the Bitter End in Cockermouth as a must-visit summer watering hole, due to the high quality of its in-house brew and delicious menu.
Commenting on the accolade, owner Sue Askey told the Times & Star it could not have been achieved without the commitment of pub manager Mike Dunn who doubles up by carrying out chef jobs in the kitchen other employees and customers.
She added: "It is positive news to be recognised when so many businesses, especially pubs, are going under. We have gone from strength to strength."
Husband Mike said the pub had recently started bottling the ale it brews on-site and the first batch has recently been delivered.
"We are also hoping to expand the brewery in the future," he commented.
Wetherspoon's recently announced the creation of 30 hospitality jobs at the recently renovated Boot Inn in Burnley, Lancashire.
