A community pub which was bought by its regulars has been reopened, creating a number of pub jobs in Broughton.
The Star Inn, which is located near Salford, was purchased by 30 locals at auction after the brewery decided to sell up in November and now around 50 shareholders are involved, reports the BBC.
Over the past few weeks the pub has been refitted and opened its doors to the public on December 19th.
Live-in pub manager and shareholder Rick Haughton will oversee the day-to-day running of the pub and any profits will be ploughed back into maintaining the building or supporting community events.
Speaking after the opening, shareholder Margaret Fowler told the news provider: "It's just the most fantastic feeling, it really is.
"It's gone really well. We were up at the crack of dawn putting everything together but we've had a steady stream of people to have a look, and have a laugh and a drink."
With a number of pubs closing their doors due to the recession, groups across the nation are banding together to save their local watering holes, and with them pub jobs.
Research conducted by UKTV channel Blighty revealed that the average British man will spend a combined total of more than 10,585 hours in the pub, highlighting how big a part of community life they are.
