Pub jobs could be created in the village of Badby near Northampton with the reopening of the historic Maltsters Country Inn.

The 18th century watering hole opened its doors last weekend, after being given a complete makeover by new owner Richard Williams, who also owns the Wharf in Bugbrooke, reports the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

Maltsters Country Inn's revamp has been welcomed by locals, as it is the only pub in the village.

"It was absolutely packed over the weekend - although I think everyone in the village was just quite glad to have a pub open again," Mr Williams told the news provider.

"I think years ago there were three pubs in the village but with the other two closing I think they are just pleased that one pub is now open."

Another historic pub reopening its doors is the Carpenter's Arms in Newport, which was bought and fully refurbished by pub chain J.W. Bassett Pubs and Bars, reports the South Wales Argus.
