A pub manager in Sheffield is delighted that his pub has become the first to win the prestigious industry award for two consecutive years.
CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) has named the Kelham Island Tavern as its National Pub of the Year for 2009.
The pub retains the award after winning it last year for the first time. The accolade has only been won twice by two other pubs the Fat Cat in Norwich (1998 and 2004) and the Swan in Little Totham, Essex (2002 and 2005).
Quality of beer, atmosphere, decor, customer service, and all-round value of the visit were taken into account by judges.
Trevor Wraith, Kelham Island Tavern licensee, said: "We are once again overwhelmed at the judges' results and delighted to be awarded CAMRA's top prize for the second year running. It's truly a great achievement and something we never dreamt of when we first opened."
CAMRA has more than 100,000 members and aims to promote good quality real ale and pubs.
