A 21-year-old has taken the reins at a Burton pub and has become one of the youngest licensees in the area, according to a newspaper.

The Burton Mail reported on the project which Jon Saeed is taking on at The Pepper Tree in the town centre. Along with his 22-year-old girlfriend the young landlord wants to bring a "consistent customer base" to the establishment.

"I had worked for the Hilton hotel chain, and built up experience as a barman and in sales. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in life, but when this opportunity arose I knew it would suit me," he stated.

The youngster added that he expects the work to be tough but enjoyable and he expects the stigma which was attached to the place to be dispelled as they continue to manage it.

In other news, The Wiltshire Times recently reported that Chef Marc Hicks and his fiancée Louise Cooper have taken ownership of the Inn at Freshford and now plan to revise the establishment's menu and approach to food.
