Welsh brewer SA Brain could create more pub jobs as it has been lent £20 million to expand by Lloyds TSB.

The firm currently owns around 260 pubs, bars and hotels but the new funding will enable it to increase this portfolio even more, the Western Mail reports.

Martin Reed, SA Brain's finance director, said: "We believe the pub market is starting to regain its footing and now is an opportune time to look at acquiring some new quality outlets that offer us long-term sustainable growth."

He went on to say that the Cardiff Lloyds TSB team, which is led by relationship director Paul Williams, responded quickly to the firm's request for funding.

SA Brain was created in 1882 and is still owned by the descendents of its founders.

Many of the pubs and bars owned by the company offer a range of food choices as well as somewhere to stay the night and rooms to hold meetings or functions in.
