A mother and daughter have taken on the role of pub manager at an old establishment in Stoke.

Debbie and Samantha Stringer have become the new landladies of the Sutherland Arms, which is set to reopen on Saturday (January 22nd), the Walsall Advertiser reports.

The pub, which is on London Road, has undergone an extensive refurbishment, having been closed for three years.

Debbie Stringer, 46, of Ashcroft Avenue, Trent Vale, said: "I've been looking for a new pub to take on, and I was just driving past the Sutherland Arms when I saw a sign outside asking for an experienced manager."

Her daughter added that the pub is serving a number of real ales, which they hope will draw in lots of customers.

Earlier this month, the Hull Daily Mail reported that a total of 45 pub jobs are to be created in Driffield at the first JD Wetherspoon venue in the market town.
