Former pub to create coffee bar jobs?

A number of coffee bar jobs may be created in Bradford after a pub in the city centre was bought and the new owner expressed his interest in converting the ground floor into a cafe.
The Cock and Bottle, off Canal Road, in the Barkerend area of the city, has been purchased by a property owner after being put up for sale and is now undergoing a renovation process to convert the living area on the top floor of the building, the Telegraph and Argus reported.
However, the property is Grade II listed so permission will be required before the new owner can transform the downstairs from a pub into a cafe.
The project has raised concern among members of the real ale organisation Camra, which said it is important the new owner retains the pub's listed features if he goes ahead with the plan to create coffee bar jobs at the venue.
Earlier this year, 20 coffee bar jobs were created in Nottingham with the opening of the UK's first drive-thru Costa Coffee, located at Castle Marina Retail Park.
