A historic West Midlands drinking venue has reopened following a massive revamp that looks set to leave a lasting family legacy, as well as creating new pub jobs for the area.
Known previously as the Waggon and Horses, the Stourbridge pub David Murphy's opened on Monday (August 22nd), after a 12-month renovation costing around £200,000, the Stourbridge News reports.
The reinvented venue was named after landlady Trina Keane's late father, who died in 2008, aged 86. She told the news source he would have been proud to see his name on the pub sign.
"He would love it, he was fond of a drink, we have a glass with his name on behind the bar," the pub manager said.
David Murphy's is expected to bring 12 new pub jobs to the area.
Earlier this month, thanks to a £400,000 makeover at the former Castle Hotel, at least 40 pub jobs were created in Droitwich Spa.
