Proposals for a new pub and restaurant have been approved by Shropshire planning chiefs, boosting the region's hospitality recruitment by creating a range of chef jobs and bar staff opportunities.
Brewing company Marston's will develop a 180-seat venue on Welshpool's Old Smithfield site as part of a £2 million scheme to accelerate the town's regeneration project, reports the Shropshire Star.
As well as broadening Welshpool's social scene, the pub and restaurant will also create up to 50 full and part-time positions when it opens next year. These are likely to include chef jobs and bar staff roles.
Steve Roberts, spokesman for Marston's, said the company was "incredibly excited" to have been given the green light. "Now the hard work starts to deliver a top quality pub restaurant for families in Welshpool," he added.
Last week, world-famous Italian chef Antonio Carluccio revealed he may soon be creating restaurant jobs in the West Midlands, under plans to open a bistro at the CrownGate Shopping Centre in Worcester.
