A thriving pub on the outskirts of Birmingham will soon receive an extensive makeover, which could bring new bar staff roles to the West Midlands.
The Cat and Fiddle in Beacon Road, Great Barr, will close on October 9th for work to begin on a £220,000 revamp, the Birmingham Mail reports.
George Kirkham, the pub's general manager, said: "We see the investment as a new beginning for the pub where the whole local community can gather."
Among the improvements will be a new bar, upgraded kitchen and complete interior redecoration. At least five bar staff vacancies will reportedly be created.
The Cat and Fiddle will be rebranded as a John Barras venue when it reopens on October 21st.
Earlier this month, developers unveiled plans to convert a disused Warwick pub into new guest accommodation for the West Midlands region.
The Crown and Castle, which has stood empty for more than a year, will be transformed into a 17-bedroom hotel complete with a bar for the locals.
