Carluccio's has created more bar manager jobs in the south-east with the launch of its Aperitivo concept.

The first of the new evenings-only establishments, which are designed for busy city centre settings, have just opened in Reading and West Smithfield in London.

Open from 17:00 every day, the venues are designed to offer an authentic Italian bar experience, with bottled and draught beers, wines and cocktails replacing the coffee and deli selection.

Simon Kossoff, chief executive of Carluccio's, explained the company has always fared well at breakfast, lunch and supper times.

"The new Aperitivo bar offer has been designed specifically to attract an after-work early evening clientele, increasing traffic between the quieter hours of 17:00 and 19:00," he remarked.

Mr Kossoff added customers can still expect to enjoy the same "genuine Italian experience".

Carluccio's was established in 1991 with the aim of providing high-quality Italian food and coffee at sensible prices and in an informal environment.
