People in pub jobs at the Bridge End Inn, Ruabon, have been recognised for their good service after the establishment became the first ever Welsh bar to win the Campaign for Real Ale's (CAMRA's) pub of the year competition.

The pub was only reopened in 2009 following a lengthy hiatus, making its success even more impressive.

It serves seven real ales as well as a selection of local ciders and has stocked beer from over 100 breweries since it opened, concentrating mostly on local produce.

Peter McGivern, Bridge End Inn licensee, said: "We've enjoyed great success in a short space of time, which couldn't have been achieved without the support of family, close friends, staff and customers."

He added that the pub enjoyed a broad selection of drinkers, from local regulars to beer lovers from across the UK.

CAMRA is an independent lobbying organisation which petitions the government over issues affecting real ale, community pubs and consumer rights.
