A new £3 million hotel is to be opened in Norwich by one of the stars of the BBC television hit Dragon's Den.

Businessman Duncan Bannatyne's leisure company, the Bannatyne Group, is to open the new 50 room property next to the Norwich branch of his nationwide chain of health and racquet clubs in Thorpe St Andrew, located in the eastern area of the town.

It will be his fourth hotel development and the third outpost of the Hotel Bannatyne brand, which offers accommodation in Darlington and Durham.

The Bannatyne Group is also the owner of the Beauport Park Hotel in Hastings, Sussex.

Speaking of the new venture, Mr Bannatyne told the Eastern Daily Press: "I am sure that Norwich will benefit from the introduction of a hotel offering modern and comfortable accommodation at such a low price."

The group is also likely to need to recruit staff to fill hotel jobs in Durham as it adds a 23 room extension to the town's existing Hotel Bannatyne, the Northern Echo reports.

"After period of acquisition and integration, it is pleasing to return to our strength for creating new leisure opportunities," Mr Bannatyne told the newspaper.
