BaxterStorey merger 'provides platform for growth'

BaxterStorey's acquisition of contract catering firm Holroyd Howe has created opportunities for growth, it has been suggested.

As of 2006, Reading based BaxterStorey employed 2,881 people, making it one of the largest independent contract catering companies in the UK.

Holroyd Howe has an impressive reputation as a good employer and has earned a place on the Sunday Times' list of the best UK companies to work for.

The two firms finalised their merger in December and Holroyd Howe began trading as BaxterStorey this month.

Now Alastair Storey, the chief executive of the newly melded firms, has told the Reading Evening Post that they are looking to the future.

"Our coming together with Holroyd Howe gives BaxterStorey greater scale and a deeper footprint across the UK and an excellent platform to build future growth," he commented.

A second firm, London based coffee shop chain Benugo, has also been bought by BaxterStorey, giving the company further expansion opportunities and a bigger presence in the high-street.

"Working closely with Benugo presents us with an opportunity to deliver an exciting retail solution to our clients and to expand our reach into the venue market," Mr Storey told the newspaper.
