Hospitality organisations in York have underlined their commitment to ensuring that people working in the sector are treated fairly, it has been reported.
According to the York Press, groups such as the York Tourism Bureau and York Hospitality Association have strongly emphasised that they want to know if any restaurants, hotels or hospitality businesses are being disrespectful to their staff.
Kay Hyde, public relations manager for York Tourism Bureau, told the newspaper that those in hospitality jobs in the city have some of the "best employers in the hospitality industry".
"York's hospitality industry is totally committed to caring for its workforce," she commented.
Michael Hjort, secretary of the York Hospitality Association, which represents more than 100 firms, also praised the standards of the city's employers, commenting: "The city keeps winning awards because most of us take staff training and welfare seriously."
The city is a very popular short-break destination and was named the best city in the UK to visit at the Telegraph Travel awards last year, with popular attractions such as the Medieval gothic cathedral York Minster and the Jorvik Viking Centre helping create hundreds of local jobs.
