Snow boosts Scottish hospitality

A recent cold snap in the Highlands of Scotland has given a boost to the hospitality sector, according to reports.

The region attracts thousands of tourists every year, with many choosing to visit in spring and summer when the weather is better for exploring the spectacular countryside.

However, others prefer to head to the area in winter to ski in areas such as Aviemore, which boasts the stunning CairnGorm mountain as a key attraction.

The Strathspey and Badenoch Herald reports that local businesses, such as bars and hotels, have benefited from continuing chilly weather this year, with the light snow that has been falling on the resort every day encouraging more people to take to the slopes.

According to the newspaper, the number of people who have visited since the season began is expected to equal that of the entire 2006/7 ski period if it stays cold until the end of the month.

This could spell good news for people interested in local jobs in the region's many bars and pubs, with an extended season creating more demand for staff.
