Restaurant chain plans expansion

Mediterranean-style restaurant chain Ego is set to open new outlets across the west Midlands, it has been reported.

The firm already has outposts in Chester, Heswall, Liverpool, Stockton Heath, Bramhall and Lichfield but the Manchester Evening News reports that its new chief executive James Horler plans to roll the concept out across the west Midlands and the rest of the north-west.

The first new outpost is set to be in Lichfield in Staffordshire, with three further restaurants in suburban areas scheduled to be created later this year.

Mr Horler, the former chief executive of tapas chain La Tasca, said: "Many suburban areas in the Midlands and the north west are under-provided for in terms of quality casual dining, and Ego is well placed to make excellent inroads into this area.

"The concept has already proved popular in key locations across the north."

He argued that the existing outlets "will act as a solid platform from which to develop the business and execute a successful rollout".

Looking forward, Mr Horler said he hopes to be able to launch ten new Egos every year.

Those applying for restaurant work roles could find themselves working closely with the local community, with the chain offering regular work experience placements to young people interested in hospitality jobs.
