Students in Yorkshire can hone their skills for future hospitality jobs at a new training facility in Sheffield, it has emerged.

A chocolate-making enterprise is one of the novelties set up at the city's Park Academy, with master chocolatier Steve Rastell lined up to share his extensive expertise with individuals interested in working as a chef.

With all rooms fitted to professional standards, students will also be able to get their hands dirty in a training kitchen and restaurant - open to members of the public keen to sample the fruits of their efforts.

"All of these enterprises will be planned, set up and run by our students, who will gain a massive amount of business acumen and entrepreneurial experience as a result," director Craig Dillon remarked to the Sheffield Teleraph.

The newspaper reports that 140 guests have already been treated to a three-course celebration lunch at the venue, an event which raised around £1,000 for charity.

Veteran pub manager Olive Wilson pointed out to aspiring hospitality workers last week that they must be prepared for "hard work and commitment" to get ahead in the industry.
