Recognition in being short-listed for the Top 10 Restaurants Outside London awards has "stunned" the co-owners of a 16-cover establishment in Hessle, east Yorkshire, according to a source.
The restaurant, run single-handedly by Lindsey and Richard Johns, is a Grade II listed Georgian building and has previously earned itself places in the Michelin and Good Food Guides in 2007 and 2008.
Working as a duo, Richard's role in the restaurant is chef, while Lindsey tends to front of house, whose service is described on the official website as "excellent".
The report from Big Hospitality suggests that the couple would not expand their established business in the event of a win, as they are happy with what they are achieving.
Lindsey told the publication: "This is the biggest thing for us - we really are up against the best in the country
we didn't apply for the award, so it's come as a total surprise."
Other nominees for the award are Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck restaurant and Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, the source reports.
