Restaurant work opportunities may soon be created in Kettering's market place, as the council's plans for a stylish "restaurant quarter" are currently being proposed, according to a source.
Kettering council hopes to attract a "big-name restaurant" in the extensive redevelopment of its town centre, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph has reported.
These plans join other schemes for nearby Job's Yard, where the council intends to create room for a number of independent shops and a new office development for Soan's Yard.
Jim Hakewill, council leader, told the publication last week: "We want to create life, job and shopping opportunities for existing residents and we will lead by example wherever possible."
In addition, a water feature and outdoor furniture may be placed in the restaurant quarter, to create a "cafe culture style" in the site.
The newspaper said traders and shoppers alike are looking forward to the potential redevelopment.
