Heston Blumenthal has announced plans to open his first London restaurant.
The Michelin-starred celebrity chef, who runs Berkshire's award-winning Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, will create restaurant work at a new eatery in Knightsbridge's five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel in, reports suggest.
In doing so, he will follow in the footsteps of rival starred-chefs including Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, who already offer fine cuisine in the capital.
The premier restaurant manager job at the new diner has already been filled, it is claimed, with the Fat Duck's Ashley Palmer Watts moving across.
The enigmatic Blumenthal, known for his bizarre culinary concoctions, said: "I am thrilled at the prospect of opening a restaurant in such a central London location. It is a natural step and one which offers an exciting opportunity."
Earlier this week, the Northern Echo reported that the highly-rated Martin Moore had been hired to work as the head chef at the new five-star Rockliffe Hall hotel in Hurworth, near Darlington.
