A successful chain of Teesside restaurants have been shortlisted for this year's North-east England Tourism Awards, which could provide a boost for chef jobs in the area.

The trio of Cream Restaurants, owned by Krimo Bouabda, are located in Hartlepool Marina and are called Portofino, Casa del Mar and Krimo's, reports the Evening Gazette.

Mr Bouabda told the newspaper: "We are well-known in Hartlepool, but I suppose we're still quite insular, so if we win it, it will be absolutely marvellous, not just for us, but for Hartlepool as well."

He has already tasted success with his Mediterranean cuisine, scooping the Hartlepool Business Award.

The restaurants will now go head-to-head in the final with other Teesside eateries The White Room at Seaham Hall Hotel and Archers Jersey Ice Cream in Darlington.

Entrants for the HR in Hospitality awards, which recognise human resources professionals working in hospitality recruitment, also closed recently with the winners due to be announced on September 17th.
