The recent Scottish Young Chef of the Year competition was packed with talent, the East Kilbride News reports.
All entrants were from the West of Scotland and had won local competitions to qualify for the main final in which they had two hours to cook three healthy courses.
Head judge of the competition, chef Paul Devenny from South Lanarkshire College in East Kilbride, praised the standard of entrants and said that their efforts signified an extraordinary feat for the young chefs.
The winner representing Gryffe Valley Rotary Club was Jazz Catto from St Columba's School who received her certificate and a silver salver from the district governor, Andy Slater.
She will go though to represent District 1230 in the Scotland and north-east England final on March 10th 2010 at South Lanarkshire College.
The Young Chef Young Waiter competition recently announced Rose Greene and Sarah Cooper as its 2009 winners after a day of gruelling trials at Westminster Kingsway College.
