The public are being asked to put forward their nominees for the top people in chef jobs, for the Good Food Guide's Restaurant of the Year award.

This week saw the start of the nominations, which means that diners can send their vote for a top eatery in on a postcard.

In this competition, people in chef jobs in independently-owned eateries will be rewarded for using local produce and creating regional dishes.

Elizabeth Carter, editor of the Good Food Guide, said: "There are hundreds of culinary gems right across the UK and this is your chance to shout about the best of the best."

Ron Faulkner, owner of Ronnie in Thornbury, which was last year's winner, said the accolade brought customers in from far and wide.

The public have until April 21st to nominate the top people in chef jobs, with the award being given out on May 19th.

Currently the public can send in their feedback on any restaurants featured in the Good Food Guide.
