Politeness is needed for restaurant jobs

Theakston: Politeness is 'minimal requirement' in restaurants

A TV and radio personality has spoken about what he expects when visiting a restaurant and politeness from staff is something he believes is a minimal requirement.

Jamie Theakston told the Daily Telegraph that tipping is a problem the restaurant industry needs to address and he said there is no excuse for half-hearted service.

"When I'm at a restaurant, I expect waiters and waitresses to be cordial because that's what they are paid to do. If they aren't paid enough, then the owners need to increase their wages," he stated.

Another thing which irks Theakston is the handling charges at some eateries and the star said that he once worked in the catering trade before he was famous.

In other news, the Daily Post reported that local business woman Angharad Anwyl decided to invest in a restaurant and bar venture, which cost her around £200,000 and will create hospitality jobs in the region.
