Proposals to breathe new life into a derelict seafront site could create restaurant jobs in Somerset if they are given the all clear by North Somerset Council, according to one newspaper.

The Waves Café, in Marine Parade, could be transformed, reported the Weston and Somerset Mercury.

"Plans for the new restaurant include the introduction of sliding glass doors, an additional floor above the current one and two levels of seating with views out towards the sea," it stated.

The newspaper added that the new lessees of the site, Eamonn McGrath and Mark Philp, want to spruce up the building, which was declared structurally unsound shortly after they acquired it in 2008.

If the plans are given the all clear the premises could be opened and creating restaurant jobs as early as June, according to the publication.

The Weston and Somerset Mercury recently reported that Subway will be opening a branch in the holiday hotspot of Brean, which could be good news for catering jobs in Somerset.
